Next weekend is our Christmas Fair, which is an annual highlight in our church’s life. I want to say on behalf of the clergy and churchwardens how much we appreciate all the effort that’s been put in to making the event the success that I know it will be – not only help on the day, but your generous provision of time and donations for various goods. It’s a real demonstration of how powerful it can be when we come together to work for a common cause. Needless to say, the money raised is vital for the church’s ministry and mission, so thank you. As we welcome hundreds of people from our local community into our building, my prayer is that as they browse and spend money, they would catch a glimpse of a vibrant community that exists to serve them and that reflects the heart of a vibrant God. Perhaps through the Christmas Fair people would begin journeys of discipleship that would lead to them joining the community of faith – now, that would be priceless!
Weekly Prayer Guide
Growing in God
Meditate on the verses below from Psalm 139, and give thanks that God knows and loves you inside and out, and pray for a greater awareness of his presence with you.
Loving each other
Thank God for all who have been working so hard in preparation for the Christmas Fair, and pray for God’s blessing on our time together.
Serving our community
Scripture commands us to pray for ‘kings and all those in authority that we may lead peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness’ (1 Tim 2:2). Pray for the government especially in the light of the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
Bible Verse of the Week
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
