I found our time worshipping together last Sunday morning so uplifting. It was wonderful to be in a nearly full church and to be where I stood, and to hear the congregation in such good voice. I don’t think this was a one-off or a blip, but a sign that we are in a new and exciting place. I feel like we have come out of the gloom that surrounded us at the beginning of the year when we were hit by bereavement; now the clouds have parted and we are released to experience that “the joy of the Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). I think it also shows how much of a difference it makes when we all make worshipping together a priority - we can be such an encouragement to each other! While I feel encouraged, I also sense that God has more for us, which is why there’s the new monthly worship service called Pursuit, beginning next week (23rd). The aim of Pursuit is to spend more unhurried time in worship, to listen to God’s word together and then allow God to work in our lives in a deeper way. It’d be lovely if you could join us.
Weekly Prayer Guide
Growing in God
Our God is Yahweh - “I AM” - who stands above the past, the present and the future as the ever-present Lord of all. What reassurance does this give you as you reflect on your own life, and on situations within the church, community, city, nation or even world? Bring this to God in prayer.
Loving each other
Give thanks and pray for Pauline and Tom, our church wardens, and those who serve the church on the PCC.
Serving our community
Pray for the new Pais team (Anna, Thanize and Rike), for opportunities to share the good news with young people.
Bible Verse of the Week
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain. ”
Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
